Estimate Stripe processing fees before you price a sale

Use the calculator above to estimate the processing cost, the amount deducted from a payment, and the net amount you may receive. It is designed for freelancers, online sellers, agencies, and small businesses that need a quick pricing check before sending an invoice or publishing a checkout price.

Formula

Estimated fee = transaction amount × percentage rate + fixed fee. Estimated net payment = transaction amount − estimated fee.

Worked example

For a $100 payment, enter the transaction amount and the rate that applies to your account. The result separates the estimated fee from the amount left after processing, so you can compare the effect of different prices without doing the arithmetic manually.

Use your actual Stripe rate, not a rate copied from another seller

Stripe pricing can vary by country, payment method, card type, currency conversion, product, and negotiated account terms. The most reliable input is the rate shown in your own Stripe pricing or account information.

This calculator is an estimating tool. It does not read your Stripe account and it cannot predict refunds, disputes, taxes, currency conversion, or every additional product fee. Treat the result as a planning figure and reconcile completed transactions against your Stripe dashboard.

Calculate the price needed to receive a target amount

If you must receive a specific net amount, simply adding the estimated fee to that target can leave you slightly short because the percentage fee also applies to the higher charge. Use the calculator iteratively: increase the charge, recalculate, and stop when the estimated net amount reaches your target.

For recurring products, run the estimate at several realistic order values. A fixed fee usually represents a larger share of a small transaction than a large one, which can materially change the economics of low-priced products.

Before relying on the estimate

  • Confirm the percentage and fixed fee for the customer's payment method.
  • Check whether international cards or currency conversion add another charge.
  • Separate payment-processing costs from platform, subscription, refund, and dispute costs.
  • Use the same currency for the transaction amount and fixed-fee input.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculator connect to my Stripe account?

No. It uses only the values entered and does not access Stripe transactions, balances, customers, or settings.

Why can the actual Stripe fee differ?

Payment method, country, card type, conversion, refunds, disputes, taxes, products, and account-specific pricing can change the final charge.

Can I use the result for product pricing?

Yes as a planning estimate. Verify current official rates and reconcile completed transactions before making a final pricing decision.
